What is one thing couples should consider when hiring a wedding stationer?
I think the number one thing to consider is “How much time do you really have on your hands?” If the answer is “not a lot,” you’re going to want to hire a stationery designer that fits your budget and your style. It may seem easy to DIY, but the reality of trying to figure out what you need, where to source your paper, how to word things, how to print, addressing envelopes, timeline etiquette, how much postage you need, etc. is very time consuming. Your stationery designer will handle ALL of this for you plus some. They act as your stationery guru and guide, helping you through the process and letting you know exactly what is needed, what’s not and how to make your vision a reality without you having to lift a finger.
What do you wish you could tell all your couples?
Trust your stationery designer. This is why they created a business around this – because they love it, they’ve honed their skills around it and they know what will work and what won’t. If your vision is very specific, that’s ok – but let your stationery designer recommend options that may be something you haven’t seen before and could be more meaningful and specialized to your wedding than what you initially thought.
What’s your favorite part of working with couples on their wedding day?
I love watching ALL the little details come together and seeing how excited they are about the tiny signage or the little nods to their love as a couple. Vendors in the wedding industry say things like “it’s all about the details,” because it is!! This is the only day where every, single piece of the event signifies who you are as a couple and where you get to display that love.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part is when I’ve finished a design proof and my client replies with some version of “OH MY GOD THIS IS SO PERFECT I LOVE IIIIIIT” – will work on a design until that is the response I receive. I love knowing that I can take all of the different things that you didn’t think could go together, and pull them into a cohesive and beautiful design.
What do most couples not know you offer/can do?
I also offer ALL “day of” stationery + decor services. This can be anything from a custom crest printed onto a flag, to custom cocktail napkins, panels for floating bars, ceremony runners, creative seating charts, signage – the greatest thing about custom artwork is that it knows no bounds. We can print on just about any textile or product to really customize your day.
What else do you want your couples to know about working with you?
The biggest question I am asked is what are my prices and I really try to be transparent about this. Custom stationery is going to be a bit of an investment. My packages range anywhere from $1200-$5000 depending on how much we are doing for you, how many guests you have and if I am working with you from start to finish (save the date’s, main invitation suites, day of items). Keep in mind we are creating things from scratch exclusively for you, so with that comes a lot of labor, but also a lot of personal attention.
