When it comes to planning your wedding there’s a lot to consider. It’s my goal to make the photography portion of your planning as easy as possible and that is why I provide every couple with a wedding guide complete with helpful tips on planning your day!
One of the biggest factors in getting the best images is to plan your day around the best lighting of the day! In general, this is 1 hour after the sun rises and 1 hour before it goes down. What does that mean for your wedding?
I recommend your ceremony take place 1-2 hours before the sun goes down and that is dependent on a few factors.
For weddings with first looks, most of your pictures will be done prior to your ceremony and therefore your ceremony can take place closer to sunset. If you also choose to do your family formals before your ceremony (great for going straight to cocktail hour to celebrate), you can even do your ceremony at sunset!
For weddings without first looks, you need time after the ceremony to take all of your pictures including family formals, bridal party and your bride & groom portraits and it’s best to plan your ceremony 2 hours prior to sunset for enough light!
