if you’re here, you likely saw my instagram announcement that jessica fredericks photography is no longer just a side hustle but it’s now my everyday gig and i couldn’t be more excited (and slightly terrified, honestly)!
photography has always been an interest of mine, starting with my canon point-and-shoot in college… there were very few parties/events that didn’t get documented by me (sorry, friends). my photography journey really began when my parents bought me a canon rebel with a stock lens for christmas in 2009, i signed up for a class and then next thing i knew my friend’s, kelsey and joe, asked me to take their engagement photos. i started to realize then that there is no other time that i feel quite as excited than when i’m behind the lens.
since then, i’ve considered diving in to photography full-time a few times but i was also growing in my merchandising career. the one i went to college for and the one i worked really hard for. but sometimes life has a way of helping you change course. recently i was faced with a really challenging decision. one that made me drink way too much rose’ and cry my eyes out a few times. one i asked advice on from many, hoping someone would tell me what was right for me. no one could and so i was forced to dig really deep and decide what matters the most to me and what my long term goals really are. not just what they should be.
i’m following what inspires me and fuels me. and right now, that’s photography. i’m nervous, i have no idea if this will work. and maybe someday i might really want to be back in a fit room reminding designers that crop tops don’t sell as well “bum coverage” tops but right now, this is real and this is happening. and my excitement is outweighing my fear.
my website is updated, i’m booking 2018 weddings and will be posting more details about holiday mini’s in portland, oregon soon! thanks for following along and if you’re in to collaborating on some goal sessions of mine, let’s chat details!
ps. images by the crazy talented adriana klas in san francisco!
